  11. The world record  was  set up  by SDR 3
  12. in 1989 with its Top 1000X  (1501 songs
  13. were  played). The  Top 1000X was  only
  14. moderated  by two  reporters: T. Siller
  15. and  S. Schmidt, whereas  the Top 2000D
  16. was presented by eight moderators. They
  17. were  split up in two  groups. One team
  18. was in  Stuttgart  (S. Siller, M. Hold-
  19. mann...) and the other was sending from
  20. Berlin (F. Leinardt...).
  21. Everyone  could  participate, you  just
  22. had  to write  a postcard  with ten  of
  23. your favourite songs.
  24. Almost  every style  of music  was con-
  25. tained:  Pop, Trash, Rock, Wave, Metal,
  26. Acid,  Funk, Punk....  accept  Classix!
  27. The  most  successful bands  were  'The
  28. Beatles', 'Depeche Mode' (especially in
  29. the east  of Germany) and  the 'Rolling
  30. Stones'.
  31. I listened nearly 16 hours a day and it
  32. became really a drug for me. I listened
  33. all the day, while I was reading, while
  34. I  was eating  or watching  TV. I  even
  35. listened  to Top 2000D while I was sit-
  36. ting in the bathtub!
  37. It all started on 17th August at 1 a.m.
  38. and endet on the 25th August, after the
  39. local TV-station  of Stuttgart (S3) had
  40. transmitted  the final  14  hours  live
  41. from  the radio-station and  the Vasen,
  42. where the four moderators presented the
  43. songs on a video-screen. The other team
  44. in  Leipzig a party, too  and both were
  45. connected via satellite.
